McGregor Full Moon

 Made it out to Lake Mcgregor for some fishing during the full moon.  I always like to fish Burbot on full moons but this trip we got a little sidetracked and went after some Rainbow Trout. Rainbow trout are not stocked in the lake but they do come in from the canal system fed by the Bow River. Large fish are caught mostly in the 3 to 5 pound range but larger have been caught. Smaller fish tend to fall prey to the abundant Northern Pike that inhabit the shallows of these reservoirs but the bigger ones seem to thrive on the large amount of backswimmers and boatmen that live just under the ice. Every fish I've caught has been healthy and put up some epic fights. For the tackle, I like to use the same micro jigs I use for Lake Whitefish. Tip them with shrimp, meal worms, maggots or even a small piece of a hot dog if your partner forgets the bait.
